Update Contextli to the latest version
Contextli updates itself in the background. To update now, open Settings > General > App Updates, click Check now, then Install & Restart.
On this page
Contextli updates itself: it checks for new versions in the background, downloads them and installs when you quit. To update right now, open Settings > General > App Updates, click Check now, then Install & Restart.
How automatic updates work
- Contextli checks shortly after it starts and then every few hours.
- New versions download in the background.
- When one is ready, a banner says vX is ready to install. Click Install & Restart, or keep working and it installs the next time you quit.
- You may also see a window with Install and Relaunch, Install on Quit and Skip This Version.
Update now
- Click Settings at the bottom of the sidebar.
- On the General tab, scroll to Storage & Updates.
- Under App Updates, click Check now. Your Current version is shown here too.
- When the update is ready, click Install & Restart.
“Update required”
If your version is too old, Contextli shows Update required (“A newer version of Contextli is required. Please update.”). Click Update to open contextli.com/download, download the latest version and install it over the old one.
Update by hand
If the app cannot update itself, download the latest version from contextli.com/download and install it:
- Mac: quit Contextli, open the new
.dmgand drag Contextli into Applications, replacing the old one. - Windows: run the new installer. Do not uninstall first, because uninstalling deletes your local settings and notes.
- Linux: download the new AppImage and run it instead of the old one.
After an update
- Mac: if paste stops working, turn Contextli off and on in System Settings > Privacy & Security > Accessibility, then restart the app.
- Windows: if your settings look reset, see My settings reset after a Windows update.
