# Get Contextli on iPhone and Android

Source: https://help.contextli.com/articles/get-contextli-on-iphone-and-android

Install Contextli from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android), then sign in with the same account you use on your computer. Your plan and credits come with you.

## Install the app

1. Open [contextli.com/download](https://contextli.com/download) on your phone, or scan the QR code on the **Install mobile app** card in the desktop app's sidebar.
2. Install Contextli from the [App Store](https://apps.apple.com/app/id6774972003) or [Google Play](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.contextli.app).
3. Open the app and sign in with **Continue with Google** or your email. If you use email, enter the 6-digit code we send you. There is no password.
4. Allow microphone access when your phone asks.

Use the same email as on your computer. A different email creates a separate account with its own plan and credits.

## Dictate in any app on iPhone

The Contextli keyboard lets you dictate into Messages, Mail, Notes or any app that uses the keyboard.

1. Open **Settings** > **General** > **Keyboard** > **Keyboards** > **Add New Keyboard**, then choose **Contextli**.
2. Tap **Contextli** in the same Keyboards list and turn on **Allow Full Access**. The keyboard needs this to hand off to the Contextli app to record, and to get the text back.
3. In any text field, switch to the Contextli keyboard and tap the mic.
4. Speak, then tap **Stop recording**.
5. Tap **Back** in the top left corner. Your text drops into the field on its own.

Tip: you can also trigger dictation with Back Tap (**Settings** > **Accessibility** > **Touch** > **Back Tap**) through a Shortcut.

## Dictate in any app on Android

On the app's home screen, the **Quick Access** card offers two ways:

- **Floating Icon**: a floating mic button over your other apps. Grant the **Display over other apps** permission when asked. Tap the button to start and stop recording.
- **Custom Keyboard**: turn on the Contextli keyboard in your phone's keyboard settings (often **General Management** or **Language & Input** > **On-screen Keyboard**), then switch to it in any text field.

Android also has an **Offline Dictation** switch in Settings. With it on, recordings are transcribed on your phone and the audio is not uploaded. Offline notes are plain transcripts, since formats like Polished need internet.

## Troubleshooting

- **The floating icon does not appear (Android):** check that **Display over other apps** is allowed and that battery usage for Contextli is set to **No restrictions**.
- **A lifetime plan shows as Free on Android:** this is a display issue only. Your account still has its plan. If your credits look wrong, email support@contextli.com.
- **The keyboard mic does nothing (iPhone):** make sure **Allow Full Access** is on for the Contextli keyboard.
